Walter and Patricia Mack
Walter and Patricia Mack of Glendale celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary with a cruise through the Hawaiian islands.
The couple were married in 1954 at the Wee Kirk o’ the Heather
Church in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. A garden reception
followed at the bride’s family home where the couple is currently
residing.
Walter retired after teaching 35 years at John Muir High School in
Pasadena.
Patricia retired after 43 years of teaching -- 42 of which were at
Glendale High School.
Walter and Patricia met in the principal’s office of their first
teaching position at Eliot Junior High School in Altadena.
During World War II, Walter served as a Naval medical corpsman,
attached to the First Marine Division in the South Pacific. Now he is
a life member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the First Marine Division
Assn. Walter is from Buffalo, N.Y. and graduated from Michigan State
College. He obtained his master’s degree from Columbia University in
New York City and completed graduate work at UC Berkeley.
Patricia graduated from Occidental College and obtained her
master’s degree at Cal State Los Angeles. She is a past president of
the Patrons Club of Glendale Community College and Glendale
Beautiful. She is also an active member of the American Assn. of
University Women, Assistance League, California Retired Teachers
Assn. and the Philanthropic Educational Organization.
