Disney ends negotiations to sell businesses
Walt Disney Co. ended negotiations to sell its Disney Store chain
in Europe.
Talks to sell the 105 stores were called off last week.
The company had announced in 2003 that it would sell both the
European and North American chains because of lackluster revenue and
profit growth.
Disney completed the sale of its U.S. and Canadian stores last
year to New Jersey-based Children’s Place Retail Stores Inc.
The company bought 313 stores in North America in November for
about $101 million.
Children’s Place also agreed to pay royalties to Disney on
merchandise sales, beginning two years after the close of the
transaction.
