A detour is in order
Drivers might want to avoid driving downtown now that the city’s
Public Works Department has started a six-week repair project on
Third Street.
The roadway will be reconstructed from Olive to Verdugo avenues,
resulting in the closure of the street.
Outgoing Public Works Director Bruce Feng called Third Street “the
worst street” in the city.
Repair work was delayed until the new Cusumano Civic Plaza
building was completed on the old Police Department site on Olive
Avenue between Third Street and San Fernando Road.
The repair project was funded with $500,000 the Public Works
department received in federal Community Development Block Grant
dollars.
