Walt Disney Studios names new president

The Walt Disney Co. named Daniel Battsek president of Miramax

films Monday, immediately placing him in charge of building a new

executive team and building a new line-up of Miramax films.

Battsek will work with co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and

as of Oct. 1, will take over all operations for Miramax Films

including creative, acquisitions, productions, distribution,

marketing and publicity.

Previously, Battsek was executive vice president and managing

director of distribution and production for Buena Vista International

UK.

Burbank Chamber mixer Thursday

The Burbank Chamber of Commerce is looking to cool off for its

July mixer.

Co-hosted by the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, attendants can

walk away with a cool cash prize of $450. The event will be held from

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center’s

Hope Conference Center, 501 S. Buena Vista St.

Admission is $10 for members and $15 for non-members, and payment
