?Burbank lodge of fraternal organization donates moose dolls to police to be given away to children.DOWNTOWN BURBANK -- Burbank Police officers on patrol around the city will carry more than just emergency road equipment in their trunks, thanks to a local fraternal organization.
Burbank Moose Lodge No. 652 on Thursday donated 75 stuffed moose dolls to the Police Department to be given away to children they meet as they do their job.
The dolls will be distributed to officers to carry in the trunks of patrol cars and at police headquarters.
“This will bring a lot of comfort for kids in distressful situations,” Police Chief Thomas Hoefel said in thanking Moose members for the donation.
The lodge purchased the moose dolls from Moose International Inc. for distribution to the children, said lodge member Jerry Sater, of Burbank.
“I think they are kind of cute, myself,” Sater said of the dolls.
The Zonta Club, a women’s business organization, donated 50 dolls over the summer for the Police Department to give away.
The dolls are geared toward younger children, said police spokesman Sgt. Jay Jette.
