Burbank video service bags a new client

Videotag, a Burbank-based, personal, digital video provider, has been commissioned by the Workway staffing firm.

Workway, also based in Burbank, provides temporary, temp-to-hire and direct-hire employees to the financial, auto finance, computer maintenance and healthcare industries.

Videotag will provide Workway’s employees with video messaging services to be attached to their e-mails and resumes.

Using Videotag’s services, users create personalized video messages that can be attached to e-mails or embedded into other forms of electronic communications, such as online resumes and brochures, blogs or websites.

Software distributor raises $6 million

MESoft, a Burbank-based developer of software that distributes digital media projects, has raised $6 million in new funding from a group led by Peninsula Equity Partners and Sid R. Bass Associates.

MESoft’s software is integrated into digital media products made by Avid, most noted for editing software, Sun Microsystems, which specializes in Java technology and IBM, among others.

Touchstone Television, MGM, MTV, Warner Bros. Television, Paramount Pictures and The Weinstein Co. have used the company’s software.

MESoft plans to use the funds to expand sales and marketing as well as the scope and functionality of its product line.

They will also build out the company’s management team with new hires.

MESoft SELECT is the company’s flagship product. It is software used to store, manage and access media.
