Theatre Banshee produces John Steinbeck’s classic American drama “Of Mice and Men” opening at 8 p.m. tonight at The Banshee, 3435 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank. A pair of itinerant workers struggle through the Great Depression with the dream of buying a place of their own. After taking a job on a California ranch, their dream goes awry. Hoover High School Jazz Department is having a fundraising benefit concert at 7:30 p.m in the auditorium of the school, 651 Glenwood Road, Glendale. Special guest artist Greg Abate is traveling from the East Coast to appear in the concert. Abate has played with the Ray Charles Orchestra, Artie Shaw Band, Mel Torme and others. Also appearing is the Glendale Community College Big Band. Admission if $5. All proceeds go to support the students as they travel to compete in the Reno Jazz Festival this spring. The Victory Theatre and Indie Express present the Best of Fest film screening series at 7:30 p.m. at The Victory Theatre, 3326 W. Victory Blvd., Burbank. “Never Say Macbeth” is the film screening tonight. It’s about a high school science teacher who says the word “Macbeth” in a theater and unleashes mayhem upon a Los Angeles theater troupe. It is suitable for age 8 and older. Also screened with be “I Met the Walrus.” There will be a question and answer period with the filmmakers after the screening. Tickets are $10. Proceeds support the Victory Theatre Center.
