Film fest coming to Woodbury

The first Burbank International Film Festival will be from Sunday to March 29 at Woodbury University, 7500 Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank.

There will be an opening night inauguration ceremony and filmmaker press night, film screenings and seminars featuring industry professionals.

The closing ceremony and award show, on March 29, will feature a live performance of movie themes, composed by Academy Award- nominated film composer John Debney, as well as a live acoustic performance by multi-platinum vocalist Mark Slaughter (from the band Slaughter) and friends.

Nature day camps planned for break

The Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Department is offering spring break nature camps for children 6 to 10 years old and 3 to 5 years old.

Participants will learn about the Verdugo Mountains and what creatures live there by exploring and doing experiments.

The camp for 6- to 10-year-olds will be Monday, and March 25 and 27 and cost is $33.

The camp for 3- to 5-year-olds will be Tuesday and March 26 and the cost is $27.

Both camps are from 9 a.m. to noon at the Stough Canyon Nature Center, 2300 Walnut Ave., Burbank.

Day campers will receive a souvenir and participate in hikes, crafts and nature activities.

Farmers Market is every Saturday

Burbank Certified Farmers Market is 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday at Orange Grove Avenue and Third Street.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the Providence St. Joseph Foundation. Electronic Benefit Transfer Golden State Advantage Cards are accepted.

The market is operated by volunteers of the Burbank Certified Farmers Market Guild.
