TRACK AND FIELD

Bellarmine-Jefferson vs. St. Anthony: The Guards girls’ team earned a 51-40 Santa Cruz League win and the boys’ squad fell, 54-51, in Santa Fe League action Wednesday against St. Anthony at Clark Field in Long Beach.

“We had some key athletes missing from both teams because they were attending a senior retreat,” Bell-Jeff Coach Mike Morgan said. “We could have really used them on the boys’ side.”

In the win, freshman Rishonda Napier — fresh off helping the school’s girls’ basketball team win a state title — won the 100 meters (13.9 seconds) and the 200 (30.1).

Teammate April Tiscareno won the 400 (1:07.10) and Amanda Rodriguez won the 3,200 (14:20).

On the boys’ side, Isael Farias was a double winner in the 1,600 (5:29) and the 3,200 (12:31), Mike Magallon won the 200 (25.03), Daniel Raddocia won the 100 high hurdles (18.78) and Dillon Sayad won the 400 (57.06).

SOFTBALL

Buckley 17, Providence 13: The Pioneers lost the Liberty League slugfest Wednesday on the road.

Providence was paced by Ariane Lebrilla, who had three hits, a double and scored three runs. Teammate Jessica Dean had three hits, Natalie Ficocelli had two hits, Bronwyn Stewart had a double and scored twice and Caitie Guttry had two hits, including a double.

In the circle, Guttry had nine strikeouts.

Providence 23, L.A. Lutheran 9: Led by Ariane Lebrilla, who had a double and eight stolen bases, the Pioneers were able to win the Liberty League game Monday.

Jackie Brewer had five walks and scored three times, Natalie Ficocelli had five stolen bases, Amber Bartmus hit a grand slam, Caitie Guttry hit a triple and Bronwyn Stewart knocked in two runs for Providence.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Providence d. Santa Clarita Christian, 25-5, 25-15, 25-13: Senior middle blocker Alex Hobbs led the Pioneers with nine kills in a nonleague match Tuesday.

Senior libero Neil Bautista finished with 17 digs and five aces for Providence (7-2, 3-0).

Providence d. Yeshiva, 25-20, 25-17, 25-13: The Pioneers rolled to a Liberty League victory Monday.

Senior middle blocker Alex Hobbs led the Pioneers with nine kills and senior setter Karlo Arciaga finished with 28 assists and five aces.
