Death at gun shop ruled a suicide

A 29-year-old employee of a local firearm dealer shot himself in the head about 3 p.m. Saturday in a back room at Gun World in the 2400 block of West Magnolia Boulevard, police said.

Martin Navarro, of Studio City, was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, said John Kades, an investigator with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The shooting has been ruled a suicide and is not being investigated by the Burbank Police Department, Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Officers blocked off the site at 2412 Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank and entered through the rear door of the business, police said.

The suicide marks the second time in less than 10 days when a man took his own life in a public firearms-related facility in Burbank.

A 64-year-old Burbank man on June 19 died after shooting himself in the head at the Firing-Line indoor shooting range about 12:50 p.m.

The fatal shooting occurred about a year after a 25-year-old Glendale man rented a handgun and shot himself in the head at the indoor range.
