A 59-year-old Burbank man remained in critical condition Thursday after being struck by a Mercedes Benz two days earlier near the intersection of Olive Avenue and Victory Boulevard, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and treated for unspecified injuries, Police Sgt. Robert Quesada said.

Police at about 8:20 p.m. were called to the scene where two pedestrians — one pushing a shopping cart — were crossing southbound on Olive Avenue outside the crosswalk, Quesada said.

The man was struck by the 2004 Mercedes Benz, driven by Carolyn Mikaelian, of North Hollywood, as the pair crossed the eastbound lane of Olive Avenue. Police said the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Burbank Police Department’s Traffic Bureau, (818) 238-3100.
