‘Lumberjack Bandit’ arrested in downtown L.A.

The man who robbed the Bank of America at 3400 W. Magnolia Ave. at 10:06 a.m. Aug. 11 was apprehended in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday when he attempted to rob a Wells Fargo bank on Adams Street.

Known as the “Lumberjack Bandit” after witnesses described his beard and clothing as characteristic of his namesake, 28-year-old Mauricio Enriquez, of Mexico, allegedly stole $2,450 from the Burbank bank.

He was allegedly also linked to one additional robbery in the city of Los Angeles and two in Culver City. Wells Fargo bank employees recognized him from bank surveillance photographs that had been publicized.

Enriquez was in court and transferred to federal custody on Friday.
