Animation expo takes over Burbank

Burbank is hosting Creative Talent Network’s Animation expo at the Burbank Convention Center from Nov. 19 until Nov. 21 — the highlight of the city’s Animation Week.

“We’re not only the media capital, but we’re also the creative and animation capital of the world,” said Mary Hamzoian, economic development manager for the city. “Burbank is a central location, and it only makes sense to host the event.”

The expo includes an exhibition hall for vendors, panel and speaker sessions, live demonstrations and evening events.

The Burbank Convention Center is located at 2500 Hollywood Way.

Police Commission sets agenda

The Burbank Police Commission is scheduled to have a joint meeting with the City Council to discuss policies and reevaluate the role of the body.

The commission met Wednesday evening to finalize its proposal to the council about additional duties it is requesting.

Three commission members met with various oversight bodies and city officials to review and compare the role of similar organizations in other cities.

Although no action will be taken Tuesday night, the commission will ask the council to hire a police auditor, make regular reports to council and host regular community forums.
