A 52-year-old woman was arrested at City Councilman David Gordon’s house Monday night on suspicion of battery against a spouse or cohabitant, according to police records.

The woman, Barbara Chin, was booked and released on $20,000 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the battery charge Dec. 9 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

On Friday, Gordon acknowledged that a “domestic violence issue” occurred, and that Chin had lived at his home “for some time.” He described her as the mother of his son, but added that they were not married. Gordon declined to elaborate on their relationship.

“[The police] came and did their job, and I appreciate that,” he said. “This matter will be dealt with.”

He added that he was fine, pointing out that he was at the City Council meeting the following night, and that Chin was not currently living at his house.
