Obituary: Martin Harry ‘Jiggs’ Smith

Martin Harry “Jiggs” Smith passed away on Oct. 26 in Burbank. He was 87.

He was born on April 18, 1923 in Burbank and lived in Burbank for 31 years.

After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a hardware clerk for 40 years in the San Gabriel Valley.

He was a member of the Presbyterian churches of Burbank and La Puente as well as the Funsters Square Dance Club in Covina and the Burbank High School Bulldog Alumni Foundation.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Aleta; three children, Carolyn Pecho, Lowell Smith, Rhonda Gallardo and their spouses; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Oct. 30 at the Presbyterian Church of Burbank and

graveside service with a military honor guard was performed on Nov. 1 at Pierce Bros. Valhalla Memorial Park.
