Street closed for mystery package

Burbank police briefly closed Olive Avenue Monday morning to investigate a suspicious package that was delivered near offices housing Clear Channel Communications, officials said.

They lifted the evacuations about 8:40 a.m. for the building on the 3400 block of West Olive Avenue after determining the package wasn’t dangerous.

A security guard became suspicious of the Styrofoam package about 6:30 a.m. after a man walked up to the building’s pathway, dropped it off and walked away, Burbank Police Sgt. Robert Quesada said.

The guard called police, who tried to determine the recipient and sender of the package, he said.

But police were unable to find an addressee, so they notified the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad.

Officers briefly shut Olive Avenue and ordered evacuations in the immediate vicinity, police said.

Bomb squad officers took X-rays of the package, which Quesada said contained meals for a business in the building.
