After a month of heavy enforcement, 143 Burbank drivers went home with $159 citations as part of a statewide crackdown on driving while distracted.

In April, citations were issued to 102 cell-phone users, 39 texting drivers and two others who were engaging in other distractions, such as grooming, eating or adjusting electronics, police reported. Last year, Burbank police issued 696 tickets to distracted drivers.
