Time capsule unearthed ahead of Centennial

A 25-year-old time capsule that was unearthed for Burbank’s centennial celebration next month survived with no damage, officials said this week.

Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes and other city officials removed the time capsule from the ground outside City Hall last week to check for water damage. The contents of the capsule, which will be officially unveiled at the city’s Centennial Celebration on July 8, included old newspapers, banners, high school yearbooks, pictures, a video and other articles.

A new capsule filled with mementos from the Centennial will be buried later in the year.
