Driver crashes into utility pole in Burbank

A white Toyota Corolla crashed into a utility pole, knocking down both power and phone lines, in Burbank around 4:15 a.m. Saturday, public safety officials said.

Burbank Water & Power and AT&T were notified of the accident at Olive Avenue and Niagara Street, said Burbank Police Sgt. Scott Meadows. Meadows did not know if the accident caused any phone or power outages. AT&T and BWP officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

Verdugo Fire responded to the accident, but did not transport anyone to the hospital, said Steve Pierson, a fire communications representative. Detailed information about the driver was unavailable, he said.
