DUI patrol leads to several arrests in Burbank

A DUI roving patrol Saturday by Burbank police led to the arrest of four drivers for suspicion of driving under the influence after 96 vehicles were stopped and 22 drivers were detained for field sobriety tests, police said.

Burbank Police Department Traffic Bureau conducted a DUI enforcement campaign from 7:30p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday. A DUI checkpoint was originally planned but due to inclement weather, police changed strategy.

The DUI enforcement resulted in one driver under the age of 21 being issued a citation for allegedly having a blood alcohol level greater than .01 percent; four citations to drivers for suspicion of driving with a suspended license; two misdemeanor citations for alleged possession of marijuana and one vehicle being impounded, police said.

A grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funded the checkpoint.
