Impaired driver allegedly hit police cars

A 29-year-old Burbank woman was arrested early this morning after allegedly hitting two police cars with her vehicle near Olive Avenue and Lake Street, police said.

Katherine Keklak was traveling west on Olive at about 1:50 a.m. when she turned left onto southbound Lake, where two patrol cars were parked after finishing up with an unrelated traffic stop, Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Police officers turned their attention toward Keklak’s approaching vehicle because they could hear what sounded like “an obvious flat tire,” Ryburn said.

Along with the time of night and how the driver made the turn, officers suspected it was possibly an impaired driver, he said.

Keklak allegedly hit the driver’s side door of the one vehicle and side swiped the second, and continued driving, Ryburn said.

Police then got into their vehicles and followed Keklak about a block before she failed to satisfactorily pass a sobriety test, Ryburn said.

Keklak was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and fleeing the scene, Ryburn said, and her bail is set at $15,000. She is scheduled to appear in court March 14.
