Mariposa Street bridge to close for repairs Monday
The Mariposa Street bridge will be closed Monday as crews re-weld its joints to reinforce the 73-year-old structure.
Burbank officials inspect the city’s bridges every two years, said City Engineer Sean Corrigan.
This year, he said, officials determined that the bridge near Valleyheart Drive had suffered enough cracks in its welding points that it became worthy of repair. Crews will close the bridge completely to avoid startling passing horses during the repairs.
Los Angeles County Public Works crews will be making the repairs.
Officials have posted signs near the bridge and sent emails to Burbank’s equestrian community alerting them that the bridge will be closed for “most of the day,” Corrigan added.
