Burbank designates libraries as cooling centers amid heat wave

Share

Burbank is joining the list of cities opening “cooling centers” for residents as a heat wave gripping the Southland pushes local temperatures into triple digits.

Those seeking relief from the extreme heat -- with potential highs hitting 105 degrees Wednesday -- can visit the Buena Vista Library at 300 N. Buena Vista Street or the Central Library at 110 N. Glenoaks Boulevard through Thursday, the city announced today.

The hours at Buena Vista are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Central Library, 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Temperatures aren’t expected to start subsiding until Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
