Online community reacts to discovery of FBI agent’s body in Burbank

As family and friends of FBI agent Stephen Ivens grappled with news that his body had been discovered in the foothills above Burbank Monday night, reaction poured in on a website set up by his wife for the search effort.

Burbank police today said Ivens’ body was discovered by two hikers Monday night near the 3600 block of Scott Road, ending a more than two-month long search effort.

The cause of death had yet to be determined, pending an investigation by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Stephen Ivens wife, Thea, declined to immediately speak to a reporter in the field today, but reaction to the discovery online today was reflected in what FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller called “a sad day, not only for the Ivens family, but for law enforcement as well.”
