Burbank police continue to search for a group of people who have robbed two nail salons by brandishing a handgun.

In the latest incident on Friday at about 7 p.m., a man and woman walked into a nail salon in the 1200 block of San Fernando Boulevard, where the male suspect displayed a handgun in his waistband before making off with two cellphones, money and purses from the clients, Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

A witness told police the pair left in a waiting vehicle.

Police say the robbery was related to a similar incident on July 24, when two men and a woman walked into a nail salon in the 100 block of Victory Boulevard, where one of the male suspects also displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his pants, Ryburn said.

After taking money, purses and other items from the clients and workers, the group fled on foot.

No injuries were reported in either robbery, Ryburn said.

Descriptions of the suspects are similar and Ryburn added that Burbank police are working with regional jurisdictions in an attempt to identify the suspects.

“They are related -- the M.O. is similar,” he added.

The male suspect in Friday’s robbery was described as being black, 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 180 pounds, in his 40s and wearing a gray shirt and black jeans, Ryburn said. The female suspect was also described as being black, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, about 150 pounds with a pink top and blue jeans.

In Tuesday’s robbery, all of the suspects were described as being black in their 20s. One of the men was described as about 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds and as wearing a black shirt and blue jeans, according to police.

The second man was about 22 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

The woman had long hair, was about 20 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 200 pounds and wearing a black shirt and pants, police said.

Anyone with information was encouraged to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3000.
