Meet the applicants for the Burbank Unified board

The Burbank Unified school board is scheduled to choose a replacement tonight for outgoing member Debbie Kukta, who resigned after being appointed treasurer by the city of Burbank.

The Board of Education could have decided to leave the seat vacant, hold a special election or appoint a replacement. They chose the latter, and received a total of twelve applications by the July 26 deadline. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Burbank City Hall, 275 E. Olive St.

Below is a list of people who have applied as well as a link to the applications they submitted to the board:

William Abbey: Attorney and former BUSD board member

Armond Aghakhanian: Woodbury University adjunct professor

Robert Bowne: Attorney and former Burbank City Councilmember

John Dilibert: Lieutenant, Burbank Police Department

Jane DiLucchio: Retired Glendale Community College professor

David Dobson: Self-employed video editor

Steven Ferguson: Political strategist

Michael Gitomer: Retired LAUSD teacher and administrator

Laurence (Larry) Nelson: Manager, AT&T;

Cindy Niver: Staff nurse, Providence St. Joseph

David Nos: Printing company owner

Charlene Tabet: Self-employed
