Police officials have issued an alert regarding a series of nail salon robberies in Burbank and surrounding cities.

At least two have occurred in Burbank, one on July 27, the other on July 24. In each of the robberies, two men and one woman stormed the salons, brandished a gun, and demanded cellphones, purses and other items before fleeing in a waiting getaway car.

No one in either robbery was hurt, police said.

The three suspects are described as being black, with one of the men being about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, and the second man being about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. The woman was described as being about 5 feet 5 inches tall and between 160 and 200 pounds, according to police.

Nail salon operators were encouraged to take preventive steps, including taking note of who enters, not covering storefront windows and leaving blinds or curtains open to be aware of who is outside the business. Police also said maintaining a working surveillance camera system was important.
