Good morning, readers. Today is Friday, August 24. It's well known that Michael Berman, Rep. Howard Berman's brother, has had a key role in the congressman's political career.

Rep. Brad Sherman, his rival for a seat in a newly-drawn Valley congressional district, is now going after Michael, alleging he was overpaid for his consultation work. L.A. Times

A firefighter sustained a minor injury while responding to a fire in Sun Valley, the Daily News reports.

Police are investigating Wednesday night's tragedy in Valley Village as a case of reckless driving, L.A. Observed reports. The driver who crashed their SUV was believed to be going over the speed limit at the time of the accident.

And now for the creepiest story of the day: a plastic surgeon in Sherman Oaks pleaded not guilty to secretly filming female patients, the Daily News reports.

Plans to turn a building at Burbank's Empire Center into a Walmart were put on hold as a judge forced the city to prove the business won't affect the area. Burbank Leader
