A Burbank woman was robbed outside her home Saturday upon returning from a shopping trip to the jewelry district in downtown Los Angeles, police said.

The woman had just parked her car about 11:25 a.m. in the 1800 block of Ayers Ways when a man approached her and grabbed a jewelry bag from her arm, according to Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

When the bag fell on the ground and several jewelry boxes spilled out, the man grabbed four of them and fled toward Via Montana, according to Ryburn.

The boxes contained four necklaces valued at a total $5,600, he said.

The woman described the man as Latino or black, about 5 foot 9 inches tall with dark-colored hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark-colored pants and white shoes.
