The bassist of the heavy metal band Dio was arrested in Burbank Tuesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs after crashing into another vehicle, police said.

Bassist Jimmy Bain was making a left out of the Fry’s Home Electronics store parking lot on to westbound Vanowen Street, near Hollywood Way, about 9 p.m. when he pulled his 1995 green Toyota Camry out in front another vehicle, causing the collision, Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Police officers conducted a field sobriety test, but Bain “failed to satisfactorily pass it,” Ryburn added.

Officers discovered Bain was also lacked a prescription for Vicodin pills on his possession, Ryburn said.

Police also discovered that Bain had an outstanding felony warrant for drugs.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, possessing narcotic pills and the warrant, Ryburn said.
Bain has released Wednesday after posting $60,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles County Superior courtroom on Sept. 19.

Bain played with Dio from 1983 to 1989, when they released their hits “Rainbow in the Dark” and “Holy Diver.”

He is currently a bassist with Hollywood Allstarz, which includes members of other metal bands.
