Man accused of fighting with officers outside Burbank church

A 38-year-old Panorama City man was arrested early Monday after allegedly fighting with a security officer outside a Burbank church and then going after a police officer.

Armen Gindzhiyan was taken into custody on suspicion of being drunk in public and resisting arrest outside St. Leon Cathedral in the 3300 block of North Glenoaks Boulevard, Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Officers arrived at the church about 1:50 a.m. after receiving reports of seven men and women fighting with a security guard following an event, he said.

Officers asked the men and women to leave, but Gindzhiyan refused and headed toward an officer, ignoring his commands, Ryburn said.

The officer quickly took Gindzhiyan to the ground and arrested him, and no one was injured during the incident, Ryburn added.
