Crime around the station rose 19 percent, police told the Contra Costa Times. Residents will see an influx of officers around the neighborhood.

Family and friends of Alaska Airlines Captain Lee Morris, found dead near the 5 Freeway in Burbank, gathered in Washington on Sunday to remember him. “Everybody felt like Lee was their best friend,” his sister, Karen Miller, told the Burbank Leader.

A 20-year-old Van Nuys man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for shooting at a police helicopter last year, reports ABC. The pilot had to make an emergency landing.
