Luis Calingo was officially installed during an inauguration ceremony Saturday as Woodbury University’s 13th president.

He hails from Dominican University of California in San Rafael — a four-year, private Catholic college where he served as executive vice president and chief academic officer. Calingo, whose appointment was announced earlier this year, replaced Kenneth Nielsen, who retired from the post after 16 years at the 128-year-old Burbank campus.

Calingo previously served as dean of the Boler School of Business at John Carroll University in Cleveland. He also held various leadership posts in the Cal State system, where he was chairman of the association of deans in charge of spearheading academic leadership initiatives.
