Burbank motorcycle officer injured in traffic collision

A Burbank motorcycle officer was injured Monday afternoon when he was rear-ended by a 67-year-old motorist just before 4 p.m., police said.

The officer was on patrol near Avon Street and Clark Avenue at the time of the collision according to the Burbank Police Department.

The officer, who was not immediately identified, was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

[Updated 3:56 p.m.: The officer sustained minor injuries, including back pain and soreness, and was released from the medical facility a few hours after being admitted, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.]

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Traffic Bureau at (818) 238-3100.
