The driver of a commercial van being chased by police Monday afternoon hit two vehicles in Burbank during a pursuit that began in Sun Valley, Burbank police said.

Los Angeles police followed the man into Burbank, where he reportedly sideswiped a car while driving southbound on Glenoaks Boulevard near Magnolia Boulevard, said Burbank Police Lt. Matthew Ferguson.

The suspect subsequently turned right onto Alameda Avenue and right again on Buena Vista Street, where he reportedly rear-ended another vehicle, Ferguson said.

Just before 5 p.m., the driver’s car came to a halt and he was taken into custody, Ferguson said.

Police attempted to pull over the driver because they suspected he was driving under the influence, said LAPD spokesman Cleon Joseph.

In Burbank’s city limits, the chase lasted roughly five minutes, Ferguson said.

No further details about the suspect or the reasons for the pursuit were immediately available.

“No Burbank units were involved in any part of the pursuit,” Ferguson said.
