Two Compton men were arrested for allegedly conspiring to steal kitchen grease from Carl’s Jr. in Burbank on Monday, police said.

At 12:40 a.m., officers observed the two men – Ronnie Bolton, 25, and Lionel Bowden, 23 – behind the Carl’s Jr. at 1320 North San Fernando Blvd. near the restaurant’s kitchen grease tanks, said Burbank Police Sgt. Darin Ryburn.

As police approached, the two men drove away in their truck, but officers stopped them at a nearby 76 gas station. That’s where police discovered two large white containers, covered in grease and with hoses attached, in the bed of the truck, Ryburn said.

Kitchen grease can be recycled for roughly $3 a gallon, Ryburn said.

Bolton was released after posting $20,000 bail and is due in court next month. Bowden is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
