A motorist was beaten Tuesday after confronting a group of cyclists and skateboarders in Burbank, police said.

The victim, described by police only as a 53-year-old man, reportedly pulled his truck up next to the group of four men at 6:30 p.m. on Olive Avenue near Glenoaks Boulevard and started yelling at them, said Burbank Officer Joshua Kendrick.

It wasn’t immediately known what prompted the verbal outburst, but soon after, the motorist pulled over and got out of his truck to confront the men. That’s when one of them -- identified by police as Zack Morgan, 21 -- allegedly punched and kicked the motorist in the head multiple times, causing cuts across the man’s forehead, according to police.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and received stitches, Kendrick said.

Morgan was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
