Suspicious package at bank in Burbank forces street closure

Police officials have closed a portion of Hollywood Way in Burbank as a bomb squad inspects a suspicious package that was left at a bank near Bob Hope Airport.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s bomb squad was en route to Community Bank at 2800 North Hollywood Way just before 10:30 a.m., said Burbank Police Lt. John Dilibert.

Police officials shut down the intersection of Hollywood Way and Winona Avenue, and asked those traveling to the airport to use Sunland Boulevard or Buena Vista Street.

No further details on the package were immediately available.

Bob Hope Airport, meanwhile, is still open and operating on schedule, said spokesman Victor Gill.

Travelers should arrive heading north on Hollywood Way from Empire Avenue to the south to avoid the street closure, he added.

Staff writer Daniel Siegal contributed to this report.
