Motorcyclist struck, seriously injured
A 30-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized with severe injuries after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in a truck Wednesday evening, police said.
The driver, identified by police as Douglas Lamb, 66, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possibly of both alcohol and prescription drugs, said Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick.
The motorcyclist sustained a concussion and multiple broken bones in his arms and legs after the truck hit him at 7 p.m. while turning left onto Maple Street from Burbank Boulevard.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He is expected to survive, Kendrick said.
