Man steals cellphone from 7-year-old

Police are looking for a man who reportedly stole a cellphone out of the hands of a 7-year-old child on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The boy was walking with his father near the entrance of the Burbank Town Center when the suspect approached from behind and ripped the Samsung phone out of the child’s hands, said Burbank Police Lt. Eddie Ruiz.

The man – described as around 18 years old, roughly 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 145 pounds – fled westbound toward First Street.

The suspect was reportedly wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray shorts and white tennis shoes.

The child was not injured, Ruiz said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3000.
