The human remains discovered off Angeles Crest Highway in September were identified this week as those of a 24-year-old Burbank man who was reported missing five months ago, coroner’s officials said Friday.

The man, Gevork Boyadzhyan, was reported missing in July after his family members last saw him leaving his Burbank home one Saturday evening.

An hour after he was last seen, he sent a text message to a friend that read “Call me.”

The friend returned the call an hour later, but Boyadzhyan’s phone had been turned off. Since then, no activity had been reported on his credit cards, according to his family.

Two months later, Boyadzhyan’s white Lexus sedan was found by authorities 400 feet off mile marker 65 on the highway. It appeared to have been involved in a crash.

Human bones, along with items of clothing, were discovered near the car, authorities said.

Coroner’s officials were unable to determine the cause of death because of the state of the body, according to Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

The investigation into the cause of the car crash is ongoing, Burbank police said.
