Hiker escorted down Stough Canyon trail after report of mountain lion
Police escorted a hiker down a Stough Canyon hiking trail Thursday in Burbank after the woman reported a mountain lion was following her, police said.
Shortly after noon, the woman called authorities claiming that she saw, and was being followed by, a mountain lion while she was hiking roughly two miles above the Stough Canyon Nature Center, said Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick.
Officers – on foot and by helicopter – searched the area and were reportedly unable to locate a mountain lion, Kendrick said.
One of the helicopter pilots escorted the hiker down to safety, he said.
