Letter: Restaurant is worthy of its name

I am not a restaurant critic. I am not going to talk about chefs or various dishes. However, I know what I like and don’t like. After waiting for 30 years, Burbank now has an eatery that is worthy of praise and participation. After reading a glowing review in the Leader, I decided to take my son for his birthday lunch. He was very happy. Centanni Trattoria has taken over at the old South Street Philly Cheesesteak location on Victory Boulevard, and it is long overdue and a positive addition to our city. The first Centanni has been successfully operating in Venice. It is a moderately upscale establishment but that should not scare patrons! The excellent quality of food is fairly priced, the service is outstanding and the owners are hardworking and committed.

If the price is right and the menu is well thought out, there is a more than strong chance for survival. Too many restaurants that showed promise but were overpriced have not survived here in Burbank. The support slowly erodes and the doors are shuttered, usually within a year or two. If the people of Burbank give Centanni a decent chance they will understand this is an establishment that will stand the test of time here.

Centanni means 100 and that is just what I hope happens —100 years of this fine and friendly eatery will be just perfect. It will survive all the trends simply because everything on the menu is outstanding and the cost of lunch or dinner will not damage your bank account. Give Centanni Trattoria an honest try, you will not be disappointed.
