Is purpose to educate, or to raise funds?

I must have a lifelong misunderstanding. I was under the impression that the goal of education was to educate the individual.

Obviously, I was wrong. The goal is to raise money (“Language class could be a boon,” May 8).

I think someone should talk to Glendale teachers about the success of their language immersion program. The teachers have a lot of negative comments about these programs.
