‘Best of Burbank’ suggestions

As a longtime Magnolia Park browser, I just wonder how accurately the “Best of Burbank” reflects the area’s merchants. To me, it seems based on those who recruit the most votes and stores that are one-of-a-kind do not have to compete with another like-company to get that vote.

Categories missing from the “Best of Burbank” ballot are “Best Printer” and “Best Musical Instrument Store.” Sadly, ABC Music went out of business. As much as I like filling out the ballot every year, I’m not sure if this contest is in the best interests of Burbank’s merchants.

To me, it’s just a fun little thing the paper includes to give Burbank residents something to do. If a business I like wins, I always smile and say, “Congratulations!”
