Golf offer to reader

Molly Shore alleges in a letter to the editor (“Low-income programs and the chopping block,” Mailbag, June 19) that golfers who play at DeBell golf course are “fat cats up on the hill.” That is a surprise to the many members of our Burbank Senior’s Golf Club who are retired and living on social security benefits.

Remember, Ms. Shore, the original money to build the clubhouse came out of fees that golfers paid. The override in completing the building was not caused by golfers but by poor oversight from those in charge in the city. I repeat my offer to you. Come up and take a golf lesson. You’ll find it more beneficial than your original suggestion to turn the golf course into a dog park. Now, that’s a real money maker.
