Court’s decision negates power of vote

Share

I am saddened by The Leader’s editorial (“Cheering equal rights, aware there’s more to do,” June 29).

For it was not Proposition 8 which was defeated, but part of the Constitution, which said people are governed by a voting system. The decision was a dishonest gain for same-sex marriage, granted by the Supreme Court, disregarding millions of votes and discouraging the future of voting.

I don’t see any more reason for people to vote after being subjected to a judicial tyranny putting their hope in the hands of a few. Indeed there is not much to celebrate, but there is reason to feel humiliated. How could anyone tell his children to vote? What is even worse is the blindness of intellectuals in compromising the rights of the majority for the sake of a minority. What a shame!
