Letter: Basket program is a big success

Share

This year Burbank Coordinating Council’s Holiday Basket Program was the best one ever! We served over 550 families with food and gifts.

Heartfelt thanks to all our hundreds of generous donors and volunteers. You did it! It took the help of each and every person working together for this wonderful program. Burbank community spirit was the key to success in helping our city’s needy families.

From food drives, to sorting, bagging, building baskets and delivering, this project has incorporated the help of hundreds and hundreds of terrific people. Delivery day, Dec. 14, was amazing and exciting!

The families served were full of gratitude and there were more than a few tears shed between parents, children and drivers too. Our drivers came back to share stories of the families they had seen and anxious to load up and go out to deliver more. We have heard by phone and email from many of the families with messages of thanks and telling us this made their holiday possible.

The excitement and wonder in the eyes of children and families who received baskets is the reason to for the program. Thank you seems too little to say to everyone who participated. What you did touched hearts and created a holiday for our whole community. Each person was so valuable to making this project a success for all.

Enjoy the holiday season knowing you have made a tremendous difference in so many lives.

With thanks and love for all,
