Letter: Kudos to City Council for housing response

Many thanks to the City Council this week for their open-minded response to the community’s concerns about the housing element. The issue of transitional and supportive housing is a complex one and no one wants the city sued for failure to comply with California law. At the same time, residents felt that council and staff could have done more to mitigate negative aspects of the element and maintain the integrity of R-1 neighborhoods, at least before voting to approve the addendum.

I appreciate their willingness to put this back on the agenda and explore strategies that will create an element that will pass muster in Sacramento but also offer needed safeguards to Burbank residents.
