Letter: IKEA plan needs further vetting

There are many pluses to the new IKEA mega-store if a more thought-out plan could mitigate the negative impacts of such a massive project. Sharon Springer, whose excellent op-ed article appeared in the Feb. 12 Leader, is a member of the Sustainable Burbank Commission and has read the EIR that points out some of the deficiencies in the planned project as it stands now. The City Council will be voting Feb. 25 on overriding the conditions in the EIR and accept the impacts the way they are. This should be unacceptable to people who make or plan to make Burbank their home.

I hope other Sustainable Burbank Commission members will speak out and insist that all of the issues are addressed and solutions found and proposed before the City Council even considers accepting the present plan.
